Emirates SkyCargo has added a weekly freighter call to Copenhagen Airport in Denmark in response to rising demand.
The carrier decided to add a freighter flight to the airport after its bellyhold operations registered a 20% increase in volumes over the past financial year, driven by pharmaceutical shipments.
The service will operate on Wednesdays, departing Copenhagen at 12:35am on its way to Dubai World Central. The first call took place yesterday.
The airline will deploy a Boeing 777 freighter, which will have around 85 tonnes of capacity allocated for cargo from Copenhagen as well as neighbouring countries.
“With a thriving life sciences production industry and resilient cold chain infrastructure, Copenhagen serves as Europe’s northern hub for pharma logistics,” Emirates SkyCargo said in a press release.
“The increased capacity coupled with Emirates SkyCargo’s fit-for-purpose pharmaceutical product portfolio and extensive global network will support more pharma exports from Denmark.”
The carrier said that the service would also carry general cargo and temperature-sensitive perishables such as fish.

“Bolstering our operations to Copenhagen with a dedicated freighter, ensures that we are able to serve the current demand, and support our customers in reaching a large number of markets across the globe.”
The new call brings the number of destinations served by the airline’s freighters to 38.
