Work on Embraer’s passenger to freighter E190F aircraft is advancing with the successful completion of Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) installation conformity.

According to a LinkedIn post by US aerospace company US Cargo Systems, the company worked with Embraer to carry out the certification process in May.

“This pivotal achievement propels both Embraer and US Cargo Systems closer to the eagerly awaited entry into service of the E-Freighter program,” said US Cargo Systems.

The company added: “This accomplishment underscores the dedication and collaboration of both companies in revolutionizing the freighter aircraft industry. The E190F is poised to set new standards in performance and efficiency, and this milestone marks a crucial step in delivering these advanced capabilities to our customers.”

The purpose of an aircraft installation conformity is to verify that a component on an aircraft is configured to aircraft type design and operations, plus meets certification requirements

North Carolina-based US Cargo Systems designs and engineers technology and components in military and commercial aerial delivery systems.

Embraer launched its programme to convert E190 and E195 passenger aircraft to freighters in March 2022.

The E-Jet freighter programme has been created in response to e-commerce growth and increased demand for cargo capacity, especially to smaller markets.

If combining capacity under the floor and main deck, the maximum structural payload is 13,500 kg for the E190F and 14,300 kg for the E195F.

Embraer said in January that it plans to start physical work on its first E195 freighter conversion next year.

In April, the company’s first passenger to freighter E190F aircraft successfully completed its first test flight in São José dos Campos, Brazil.
